The Democratic Media Institute (DMI) was established in 2023 by a team that collectively possesses decades of successful management and implementation experience in high-profile media programs with substantial scope and funding, as well as in civil society organizations within the EU and beyond.
DMI serves as a pivotal media hub and a knowledge center committed to nurturing the growth of both existing and emerging independent media entities. Its overarching mission is to cultivate a more competitive and sustainable media environment in the Europe and Eurasia (E&E) region.
At its core, DMI strategically aims to create an environment that empowers individuals to make informed decisions by providing them with comprehensive, reliable, and truthful information. This, in turn, supports public participation, societal engagement, and the advancement of fundamental civil rights and freedoms.
DMI has the capacity, partnerships, and technical competencies to implement complex, large-scale media programs that ensure wide outreach and meaningful engagement, supporting other media actors, ensuring their organizational and resource sustainability, and helping to develop a strategy for further growth.
Importantly, DMI distinguishes itself through an individualized approach to each task. The concept of each project, undertaken by the organization, is developed with consideration for the strategic goals of partners and through a deep understanding of the context, involving experienced experts.
